Cleaning & Hygiene Optimization
Cleaning in food production is not just a hygiene requirement — it is a critical business driver. When done right, it has a direct impact on food safety, operational efficiency, and overall profitability.
At METTS, we take a holistic approach to cleaning, working with the concept of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This means we look beyond the cleaning itself and focus on the full picture: how equipment, chemicals, water consumption, energy use, workflows, and staff competencies all interact to influence your total cost — and your bottom line.
Our specialist, Kim Petersen, brings more than 40 years of experience in cleaning and hygiene in the food industry. With a background as a trained dairy technologist, hygiene, chemistry, and microbiology have been part of his daily work throughout his career.
He has worked extensively across the industry, including 10 years in the chemical sector where cleaning solutions were critical, and 24 years as co-owner of a company dedicated exclusively to cleaning in food production environments.
In addition, Kim has trained a wide range of stakeholders — from cleaning staff and quality teams to technical personnel and equipment manufacturers — because food safety is a shared responsibility across the entire value chain.
From Cleaning Cost to Competitive Advantage
We do not see cleaning as a standalone task, but as an integrated part of your production process. Our focus is to ensure:
- Consistent and documented hygiene standards
- Optimized use of water, chemicals, and energy
- Efficient cleaning workflows and reduced downtime
- Improved microbiological results
- Long-term, sustainable cost reductions
High cleaning quality does not happen by chance. It is the result of structured processes, clear procedures, well-trained employees, the right equipment, and continuous measurement of performance and microbiological levels.
We work systematically and with a zero-tolerance mindset when it comes to hygiene — because even small deviations can have serious consequences in food production.
At the same time, we believe that quality is built through close collaboration. That is why we maintain a strong and ongoing dialogue with our customers, supported by regular follow-ups, cleaning audits, and performance reviews.
